End of the Season in Croatia: 14th Place Overall at Formula Student Alpe Adria

Formula Student Alpe Adria marked the final stop of the Arrabona Racing Team’s racing season this year. At the competition in Croatia, we were once again able to demonstrate our preparedness, engineering expertise, and the performance of our race car against an international field. We ultimately finished the multi-day competition in 14th place overall.

In the static evaluation phase of the competition, the focus was first on the technical work behind our car. During the Business Plan Presentation, we had to present and defend a business concept we had developed before the jury, in which we placed 21st.

In the Cost & Manufacturing Event, the car’s manufacturing processes, costs, and the engineering decisions behind them were evaluated. We also finished in 21st place in this category.

During the Engineering Design Event, we presented our car’s construction, the design process for each system, and the technical solutions we implemented to a panel of experts. We placed 14th in this event. The professional feedback we received here is particularly valuable to us, as it provides important guidance for further development.

When it came to dynamic performance, our race cars and drivers took center stage.

During the Skid Pad test, the car’s cornering ability, traction, and lateral dynamics are put to the test on a figure-eight course. With a time of 5.047 seconds, we secured 5th place, which was one of our best results of the competition.

In the Acceleration event, the goal is to cover the designated distance as quickly as possible on a short, straight section of track. Here, the focus is primarily on the powertrain’s performance, the car’s traction, and proper setup. Our driver completed the distance in 3.476 seconds, placing us 8th in this event.

Autocross tests the harmony between the car and the driver on a short, technical course. Due to the rapid accelerations, braking, and constant changes in direction, nearly every important dynamic characteristic of the car comes into play here. We completed the course in 47.938 seconds, which ultimately earned us 11th place.

One of the biggest challenges of the competition is the Endurance event, where, during a longer-distance race, not only the car’s pace but also its reliability and durability play a key role. Unfortunately, due to a problem that arose during the race, we were unable to finish the Endurance event, so we did not achieve a score in this category. Since the Efficiency evaluation is also linked to performance in the Endurance race and the energy consumption measured there, we were unable to earn any points in this category either.

We ultimately finished in 14th place overall at Formula Student Alpe Adria, bringing this year's racing season to a close for us.
