Design Freeze
This year's Design Freeze event took place on the 23rd of January at the Management Campus of Széchenyi István University. We invited our sponsors to the event to present the ART_11 design and construction innovations. After the presentation, which included our team and our upcoming developments, the event ended with a reception where our guests had the opportunity for an informal discussion.

Nyitott Kapuk
A Széchenyi István Egyetem nyílt napján, a Nyitott Kapukon idén is kiállított az Arrabona Racing Team. Az érdeklődő középiskolások fontos információkat tudhattak meg az
egyetemről, valamint csapathelyiségünknél a csapat életét és működését is megismerhették. Az érdeklődők örömére pedig az ART_X-et is megcsodálhatták és csapattagjaink készségesen meséltek is az autó építéséről, és a versenyekről.

Educatio
Az idei nemzetközi EDUCATIO Nemzetközi Oktatási Szakkiállítás január 11. és január 13. között a Budapesti Hungexpoban került megrendezésre. A számos egyetem és szervezet mellett a csapatunk is jelen volt. Az érdeklődők kérdéseire készségesen válaszoltunk, illetve láthatták az ART_X–et is. A rendezvény alatt reméljük, hogy sok ember érdeklődését felkeltettük.

Széchenyi István University’s Open Day
Széchenyi István University held its Open Day again this year on 18 January, where participating
secondary school students were given an insight into university life. Visitors were welcomed with a
variety of information sessions and could also take part in a campus tour and laboratory visits. Our
team was also present at the event, with a stand set up in front of the team's headquarters, where
visitors could learn about the team's history and operations, and also see our racing car.
EDUCATIO
This year's EDUCATIO International Education Exhibition took place between the 13 and 15 January
at Hungexpo in Budapest. Among the many exhibitors were Hungarian and foreign higher education
institutions, internship programmes, job and career opportunities. Our team also participated at the
event, answering questions at our stand and presenting the ART_08.

Race announcement
This year we were fortunate enough to achieve such an outstanding result in the registration quizzes
held on 28 January that we qualified for all the competitions we entered and for FS Netherlands we
came first. In the end we chose three competitions; the FS Austria, the FS East and the FS Germany.

RECRUITING
With the start of the autumn semester, we are once again recruiting for our departments. The deadline for sending CVs and cover letters was the 1st of October. At the end of the recruitment period, 21 new members joined our team, bringing our total number of staff to 69. We recruited 1 person for Electronics, 2 for Management, Driverless and Aerodynamics, 3 for Chassis, 4 for Powertrain and 7 for Vehicle Dynamics. As in previous years, we welcomed our new members with an integration team building day on 8 October.
FUNDRIVE
FUNDRIVE
Every year, our team organises a FunDrive event, where our sponsors and past and present members who have worked on the car can drive our current and past race cars. This year the event took place on 16-17 October at the Gönyű harbour.

MEGJELENÉSEINK
Humda Roadshow Junior Gokart Challenge
Between 4 and 9 October, the Humda Roadshow, a national motor racing talent show for 6-14 year olds, visited Győr, hosted by ETO Park. The programme started with a simulator talent show, followed by a time trial, and the best times were then given the opportunity to prove their skills on a real electric go-kart during the weekend programme. Visitors were also able to see this year's ART_08.
Faculty Days
On 11 October, we participated in the first day of the Széchenyi István University Faculty Days, the Organisational Open Day, where we offered insights to those interested in our team at our own stand.
Rally Hungary
Our team took part in Rally Hungary again this year, which was organised in Nyíregyháza for motor sport fans. The ART_08 ran a demonstration lap in Máriapócs on Friday afternoon, then on Saturday and Sunday it was on display in the centre of Nyíregyháza, where visitors could have a look at it and ask questions to our team members.

RACE ANNOUNCEMENT
After the registration in February our team will participate at the Formula Student East and the Formula Student Austria. We hope the pandemic situtation will allow to participate in person in these events.

DESIGN FREEZE
This March we held our Design Freeze event, where we introduced the ART_08 manufacturing processes.
Our university, permitted us to use the mediaroom, where a contributor cast helped us with the shooting. Our current and alumni team members cutted and edited the video, which is available in our YouTube channel.

RECRUITING
Recruiting our new members is very important to us, therefore we advertised the open positions in our 4 departments. In the construction side the chassis, the driverless and the vehicle dynamics departments and also our media department waited for the new members. After going through the resumes and motivation letters we started the online preliminary interviews. We welcomed 6 new members: 3 students joined to the vehicle dynamics, 1 to the driverless, 1 to the chassis and also 1 to the media departments.
TESTS
With observing the pandemic regulations our team were able to do some testing in the Gönyű Harbor. We performed these tests with the ART_07 and the main goal was to validate our laptime simulation software. We run different scenarios during the simulations and after we try them out in the track and we compare the results which helps us to imporve our software. We also did some measuring and monitoring related to our aerodynamics.
We could try some of the ART_08 settings in the ART_07 too. For example the new steering wheel, which we already improved from our drivers feedbacks. These testse are also a great opportunity for them to get in shape before the races.

RALLY HUNGARY
NYÍREGYHÁZA
The last round of the Rally European Championship was held between the 6th and 8th of November, in Nyíregyháza, Hungary. During the weekend the visitors also had a chance to meet our team and we were lucky enough to do a showrun in the town.

FUNDRAISING
2020. winter
2020 didn’t go as we planned, but it is important to help the work of the organisations in Győr. The Animal shelter of Győr is a home of many dogs and cats, who are waiting for a caring family. We were able to help them with some toys, food and cleaning supplies.
With Christmas is just around the corner we collaborated with the other student teams from our university to participate in the fundraising project of the Baptista Szeretetszolgálat. In this project we collected 70 boxes of gifts for 6-12 years old children who lives out on a limb. The packages were delivered to the Baptista Szeretetszolgálat.
ROLL OUT
This spring due to Covid-19 our team members had to leave the dormitory and the workshop, which caused a significant delay in our manufacturing processes. Therefore, we would like to introduce our car in the end of the year.
The goal for our team was to reach top 50 in the world ranking. The ART_07 is built on the RISE conception: this means a reliable, an innovative, an easy and an effective construction.
Suspension
This year we redesigned the suspension geometry to achieve the best tire performance. We have worked on improving our suspension components as well. To the rims we designed unique wheel centers. We changed the 4-stud version wheel hubs to a centerlock one. Also with the new carbon fiber A-arms we could reduce the weight by 2 kgs. We used an innovative technology and with the use of the generative design and additive manufacturing we saved 40% weight on our pedals.
Aerodynamics
The goal for our aerodynamic department was thinking in system and paying attention to airflow management. The result was a big improvement in the handling of the car. At 54 km/h speed which is the average speed of a formula student track we could increase the downforce to 550N which is almost 30% more than last year, but the drag only increased by 22% to 244 N. Last year the aero balance was 60% ont he front tire. This year we worked on reaching 50% front aero balance which improved the handling of our car a lot of high speeds.
Drivetrain
The ART_07 was powered by the EVO7 engine designed by an engine development team called Szengine. Our drivetrain department worked on integrating the engine into the chassis. They tested a lot of rubber bushings to reduce the vibrations created by the one cylinder engine. With these bushings we could reduce the fatigue of our parts and it also became more comfortable for the drivers. This year we separated our water cooler into two pieces. It gave us more designing freedom for the replacement and helped lowering the COG and centralizing the mass. Because of this solution we moved the exhaust into the back of the car. The new exhaust was optimised for transmission loss and less back pressure to maximise the performance of the engine. However the exhaust was a mufferless design we could still pass the noise test.
Chassis
Because of the new suspension geometry our chassis department had to redesign the frame. It had to be adopted to the new pickup points. The cockput was changed to be more ergonomic for the pilots. By this reason we modified the seat as well and the new seating positons lowered the height of the center of gravity too. Thanks to a lot of simulation iterations the torsional stiffness of the frame increased to 1700 Nm/°. This is about a 50% improvement compared to last year but what is more important we achieved it without adding significant weight to the car.
Electronics
The electronic department was working on the refinements of last year’s design. The main goal was to make it more reliable. But they worked on some new developments as well. They designed a new e-balance bar, with it the pilots could adjust the brake bias from the steering wheel. Also, they developed a new tire heat measuring system to provide tire temperature data to the vehicle dynamic department during testing.

ARRABONA RACING GAME
We also prepared a little gift for our online Rollout. Our team expanded the first game about the Formula Student world. Beside playing with our previous cars the users can also build their own and try out the FS events.

As continuation of our team introduction, we’ll introduce you our technical manager, Csaba Tari.
1.What is the main role of a Technical Manager?
- The main roles are to define the goals of the construction, to find out the way which leads there, and to coordinate the work of the departments. Furthermore, to take responsibility for the main decisions about the construction. Next to that, to represent the team and it’s ideas to our sponsors and supporters.
2.When did you become a team member and what was the main motivation for you to apply?
- I applied for the team in the spring of 2017. My main goal was professional development because I was interested back then as well how can a racecar be built from ideas and plans. After a few years, I have met many great people and I gained that kind of experience, what you definitely can’t learn at school. To sum it up, the world of Formula Student outdid my expectations a lot.
3.What is the most important thing, that you learned in the world of Formula Student?
- Tendentiousness and time management. These are the two things, that were determinative for me and they also had an effect on my professional and private life, and will have in the future as well.
4.What is your favourite memory from the season of 2019?
- My favourite memory is from the award ceremony of Formula Student East. As we arrived, the atmosphere was totally different then last year because we knew, that we had a good performance. Everybody was really excited about our category because we only could guess that we are in the Top 5. We were just counting during the whole ceremony and we had some brave thoughts about the podium. When it came to the places of the podium, it was maybe the longest seconds for the team until they announced. Overall 3rd place. We did it, reached the podium, 30 people jumped in the air as one, it was an indescribable experience.
Csaba started at Audi Hungaria in 2018 as a trainee in the field of Vehicle Development and currently works in the Tool factory, where he deals with tool design and production, as well as production line and production cell design.
